So I'm dealing with car transporters for our upcoming move to Atlanta, and one of the companies shoots me a quote. More companies call in and give me lower quotes. So my wife must've sent the first company an email stating that we found cheaper quotes because the first company calls and gives all these horror stories about how other companies will give me you a quote, charge your credit card and disappear, or give you one price just to get you to sign an agreement, and then try to up sell you when they get your car on the truck. 

So I ask the guy "How do I know that's not what your company is going to do?"

He says "Oh, no that will never happen with us"

So I ask "So how do you know that these other companies will do that?"

He says "Oh that's just what I've heard"

So I say "I appreciate you looking out for our well-being, but we still haven't made a final decision yet, so we will let you which direction we decide to go"

Now he may be right - There are probably some shady companies out there, but he had no proof because he doesn't know who else we are dealing with AND I don't know any more about his company than he knows about those other companies.

What part of the game is that?

Long story short, I absolutely hate it when folks build themselves up by tearing other people down. If you're great, be great. Don't try to drag anybody else's name through the mud just to prove you're better. As soon as you do that with me, no matter how valid the argument sounds, Imm still give you the side-eye!
